Palm Abbe Digital Wine Refractometer

Measure Baume and actual sugar content with precision

The Palm Abbe digital wine refractometer delivers unmatched accuracy and precision in a handheld refractometer, when measuring either Baume or actual sugar content in grape juice or must. This refractometer is specifically designed for the international wine industry and professional viticulturists, and is the only digital refractometer robust enough for daily use in a vineyard or winery.

The digital wine refractometer breaks the price barrier that previously separated digital refractometers from traditional handheld analog refractometers, while also breaking the performance barrier that distinguishes digital handheld instruments from intermediate benchtop refractometers. It is exactly the kind of groundbreaking technology you expect from MISCO, the company that paved the way for digital handheld refractometers.

Easy to use

The Palm Abbe refractometer for wine is fast, convenient, and easy to use. Simply place a few drops of juice from grapes or must on the stainless steel prism and press a button. The specially designed microprocessor provides an almost immediate reading in Baume or sugar content in grams per liter. Non-linear temperature compensation is automatic and ensures that liquids between 0 and 50 °C (32 to 122 °F) are measured accurately.

The large two-line LCD display is easy to read, even in low light, and eliminates the subjectivity associated with interpreting whether a boundary line crosses small scale divisions. And it is so easy to use! The user interface consists of two buttons, one for taking readings and the other for stepping through various menu options.

Calibration is automatic and does not require the use of special calibration solutions or tools. The Palm Abbe refractometer for wine calibrates automatically to water and is ready to use within seconds. No more screws to turn and nothing to adjust.

Measurements and instructions on the digital wine refractometer can be displayed in English, Spanish, French, German, or Russian. The fourth-generation digital refractometer brings laboratory precision to the palm of your hand. Not just laboratory precision, but laboratory precision at the price of a traditional analog refractometer.

Many wine scales to choose from to meet your measurement needs

Special models are available with scales for various international units, including refractive index, specific gravity @ 20 °C, specific gravity @ 17.5 °C, density (kg/L), Plato, Baume, Oechsle, Klosterneuburger Mostwaage (KMW), and actual sugar content in grams per liter or grams per kilogram. Scales are also available for measuring the potential alcohol content in grape must and the actual alcohol percentage by volume of the finished wine via distillation.

With the PA203X digital wine refractometer, you have the flexibility to mix and match up to five different scales of your choice, giving you the ability to create a truly customized wine testing instrument.

The following wine models are available:

VINO1 – Brix, Baume, Oechsle, KMW, and sugar content (g/L)
VINO3 – Baume and sugar content (g/L)
VINO4 – Oechsle and sugar content (g/L)
VINO5 – sucrose mass fraction, sugar content (g/L), estimated alcohol content, actual alcohol content, ethanol specific gravity
VINO6 – Brix, sugar content (g/L), estimated alcohol content, actual alcohol content, ethanol specific gravity
PA201 – Brix only
